For many Americans, the flag became a shared symbol of mourning, unity, and resolve in the days that followed. This anniversary is a time to remember the 2,977 lives lost, honor the responders and recovery workers, and recognize the families and survivors who still carry that day with them.

American Flags Express has prepared a brief reflection on the flag’s place in that remembrance, along with guidance for flying the American flag at half-staff on Patriot Day.
